About my process

I began to make these type of sculptures in 2011.  I began to look at the clay figures that had been catalysts of many of my paintings as their own breathing entities.  I started to pay attention to the possibility of a new language for my studio practice.

In this media I become the scavenger--collecting up-cycled and gifted materials to build these.  I forage in nature as well as in local dollar stores. I am interested in duality--in this case, balancing the natural and the man made.

I am using a variety of materials such as, wire, wood, clay, paint, shells, pine needles, nails, toothpicks, plumbing, paper clips, thread, string, etc.
